Independent Institute is conducting a pre-employment training program with support of Regional Development Australia and local employers as an opportunity for individuals to gain key skills to assist them with a career in the poultry industry This program is supported through WorkReady by the Government of South Australia Eligibility and subsidy criteria apply.

Chicken production is an expanding industry in South Australia with a growing need for staff at many levels of the industry.
The following positions are available:
 Farm Hands
 Assistant Farm Managers
 Farm Managers

This pre-employment training program covers the following nationally accredited units of competency:
AHCWHS201 Participate in work health and safety processes
AHCBIO202 Follow site quarantine procedures
AHCLSK214 Maintain production growing environments
AHCPLY202 Maintain health and welfare of poultry
AHCLSK201 Assist with feeding in a production system

Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for all successfully completed units of competency

Pre-requisites for pre-employment training program:
 Applicants must be over 17 years old and not enrolled in school
 Be unemployed or underemployed (working 17 hours or less per week)
 Be an Australian citizen or a permanent Australian resident
 Drivers licence & reliable transport preferred
 Must be able to pass a drug & alcohol screening test
 Must not have poultry at home (due to biosecurity)
 Past experience in the Agriculture industry preferred but not a requirement
 As these positions involve physical tasks applicants must be in good health with no existing injuries


Pre-Employment Training Selection Process:
 Submit application
 Attend a selection interview
 Participate in pre-employment program
 Work Placement/Job trial
 Final assessment
 Job interview preparation
 Final selection for employment
