Congratulations to one of our students from 2014, Paul Rust who has begun his baking career in Robe! Paul is employed by ‘Robe bakery & coffee lounge’ in the small seaside town approximately 3.5 hours drive from Adelaide. It has been a ‘sea change’ for Paul away from the hustle & bustle of the city and he has enjoyed getting to know all of the locals!

Paul studied with Independent Institute in November last year. He completed a Certificate II in Food Processing (Sales) FDF20911 – Tailored as an introduction to café style foods, baking & barista. Paul made the following comments about his studies:

“The course went a long way to helping me with my skills, everyone was really friendly and helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to get into the food industry”

“Scott was an excellent trainer, he was a huge help to me! He encouraged me to move to Robe and pursue the baking position, I thoroughly enjoy it and I am glad that I made the move’

Paul says “baking is hard, hot physical work.. but very rewarding!” He feels confident with specialty bread products and hand moulding the rolls, much prefers using the manual methods, it takes more skill.  Doughnuts, Kitchener Buns & Berliners are however ‘Paul’s specialty’, he takes great pride in his work and strives to achieve the perfect product.

If you are in Robe make sure you call into ‘Robe bakery & coffee lounge’ and try a doughnut from Paul!
