Friday the 31st of October saw the completion of the workshop component of the Certificate II in Food Processing (Sales) FDF20911 at our AgriFood Skill Centre in Salisbury. A fantastic level of support was shown to our students, having approximately 40 guests attend to celebrate their friend, family member or clients new skills & experience.

A delicious spread of canapes, baked goods, coffee and cool drinks were served by our students and as displayed in the photos, the skill level was exceptional. We wish students all the best with their transition to employment and they should feel proud of the skill level that they have developed throughout this program!

The program includes:

  • Hands on café quality product making (sweet & savoury foods)
  • Classroom exercises in food safety
  • Communication and Work health & safety
  • Barista coffee techniques
  • Specialty baking equipment operation
  • Cafe practices and team building.

The above range of skills has assisted students to become job ready for a career in the food processing, baking and cafe industries. As well as developing a fine attention to detail when producing products, the students had the opportunity to hone their barista skills which they put to good use at the celebration on Friday.

Some feedback from the students included:

“One of the best aspects of the training was the broad scope and vast knowledge banks of the trainers”

“The practical cooking lessons were conducted in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere”

“Having a few different teachers for different aspects of the course gave me a better understanding of the specific topics and it was good practice for the workplace”
